Miss Kate is basking in that post-Golden Globe nomination glow. Or maybe that’s just her outfit.

Either way, it’s working. We’ve been saying this for over a decade now, but the first thing any star needs to do when they secure a major awards nomination is to start dressing like an award-winning star. Sparkle’s always a good idea; metallics are even better (“In order to win the Oscar, one must become the Oscar.” ~ ancient T Lo proverb), but whatever method deployed, the hoped-for end result should be the same: looking like a damn winner. Even if you don’t love the pseudo-’80s feel of the look or you think the cut of the pants is a bit too voluminous, put your quibbles aside and consider the following: This would be a great costume for a character playing a movie star in a film about Hollywood.
That’s why it’s perfect.
