Miss Cynthia continues to promote her upcoming Aretha biopic by refusing to tamp down on – or even slightly alter – her own exuberant style preferences in deference to These Unprecedented Times. In other words, she’s dressing for the red carpet, regardless of the lack of one. This is no “We’re all in this together so let’s sing ‘Imagine’ into our phones” approach. This is full-on divahood, which couldn’t be more appropriate, considering the project she’s promoting.

This is kind of coolly chic in an unexpected way. The toe sandals are the once concession to the lack of a red carpet, although there’s certainly no reason why she couldn’t wear them on one. It’s just extremely rare to see that kind of footwear in that setting. Love the gloves too, which are completely unexpected and really take the whole look somewhere else. Posing aside (pulling the “top” apart like that is not necessary), we love how it’s essentially a dress over a matching pair of pants, except the dress is almost completely undone. The only part of the look we don’t like are the straps, which didn’t need to be embellished, given everything else that’s going on.
She’s clearly living for that manicure. The dress is glam and fun, with an unexpected shape that might have been a nightmare in a limo. Don’t like the shoes at all, though. The shape is weird and distracting and the color doesn’t go with the silver of the dress at all.
Another weirdly off-beat look that somehow works. The sleeves are too long and there really is no need for that mess of tulle at all, but we love the print and the white boots are absolute killers.
