It surprises us to say this, but we LOVE this on her.

Nicola was one of the brighter spots of Bridgerton (not to mention one of its most important characters) and she deserves way more praise for the season’s success than we think she’s been getting. This isn’t a knock on anyone else in the cast, since the show’s style calls for some rather broad acting at times, but she gave a nuanced, occasionally heartbreaking, and subtle performance in the middle of a lot of shouting, fighting and sex.
As we said, we really love this on her. We might have wanted to see it in a rich color, but the shape and style look great on her. She wasn’t always well-served by the Regency-esque styles the show requires, but considering how far away the costumes drift from historical accuracy (half the women are dressed more for the Victorian era), we’d love it if the costume designs could play around a little more with her character’s styles. Not that she should be wearing this, which would stand out like a sore thumb in that setting (the giant sleeves wouldn’t do), but it’s really amazing how much better she looks out of the silhouettes the show puts her in.
Weirdly, we love that you can see her feet. So many stars wear long dresses that swallow them whole. It’s a little longer on her than on the model, but we think the hem hits at the perfect spot here.
She’s adorable. Love the hair clips.
