Duchess Cathy is out here in these streets promoting the British outerwear industry. Alexa, play “Rule Britannia.”

First up, Prince William and Catherine meet with local residents of Batley and the Duchess keeps things fairly low-key by normal standards. For her, it’s a bit of a surprise:

Check out those Duchess flares! She’s been slightly switching up her silhouette this year, possibly in response to an earlier post of ours where we noted that she’ can’t keep wearing skinny pants forever, lest she get locked into one look for the rest of her life a la Granny Betty. We know she hangs on our every word and takes our advice to heart. Shut up. We KNOW it.

Anyway, this is cute and cazh (if a little on the plain side), although we think it’s silly she paired blue shoes with blue pants and a blue coat, but that’s our Cathy’s way of doing things.

Next. Cathy makes a SHOCKING jumper change on the royal train and STUNS the crowd as she and hubs arrive at Victoria Station:

It’s the same ensemble with the sweater switched out for a much cuter and more photogenic one and the addition of a pair of (matching, of course) gloves. This feels like a much more pulled-together look than the version with the plain white sweater. Still, we wish the gloves and shoes were in almost any other color, just to make it pop more for pictures.

Next up, Cathy gets SUPER-Christmassy at Cardiff Castle:

That’s a fabulously stylish yuletide look, although we have to say that the scarf and the skirt in the same fabric is a little bit “fashion doll.” To be fair, a royal train tour at Christmas is one of those occasions that begs for theme dressing and getting a little precious about it. Loving the little QEII-style handbag, which isn’t really a thing she totes around all that often. It almost feels like a tribute. Are we wondering if suede boots and leather gloves should go together? Yes. A little. Are we hating the tassles on the scarf? Yes. More and more with each passing moment.
