Alejandro Gómez Palomo launched his flamboyantly fabulous brand Palomo Spain in 2015 after studying at the London College of Fashion and becoming inspired by that city’s history of urban street style. With collection titles such as “Je t’aime moi non plus,” “Orlando,” (after the Tilda Swinton gender-bending film), “Boy Walks in an Exotic Forest,” and “¡Palomo, por favor!” his natural flair and sense of drama come through, but its the clothes that make the truest, best statement regarding his point of view. Marrying womenswear motifs with menswear shapes, his work redefines the dandy figure for the 21st century, queering him up considerably by blurring the gender binary in as many ways as possible without tipping over into full drag. Theatrical in tone, irreverently fun in style, his creations are nothing if not eye-catching and head-turning.
