
Because we’ve been covering Sentimental Value star and Best Supporting Actress nominee Elle Fanning since she was literally a little girl, we feel a little conflicted about doing an “ology” post about her now. On the one hand, we’re thrilled for her success, but on the other hand, we almost feel like summing up her style is a no-brainer, because we’ve been doing it so long. For someone as young as she is, she’s always had very firm ideas about the kinds of styles she wants to wear and she’s settled on three distinct style personae: fairy tale princess, disco queen, or retro haute couture goddess.

But the great thing about her style is that it’s never boring and you never know what she’s going to wear at any point, which is why, even though we know her style preferences well, we can’t predict which way she’ll go.
