VMA Awards 2020: Jaden Smith Sticks to His Style

We don’t know if it’s our own delighted reaction to having red carpet content after half a year or if the stars at the VMAs decided to lean into their branding hard at this time, but so many of the style choices feel like celebrities giving us exactly what we’d expect from them. Here’s Miley in her underwear sticking her tongue out, just like you remember her! Here’s Gaga tottering around on 10-inch heels in a space helmet! And here’s Jaden, quietly serving the softer take on menswear and slight androgyny that pretty much defines his style.

To be quibbly about it, we think there was an opportunity to wear something so much more interesting than those faded jeans, but we suppose the juxtaposition of relaxed casual male style with slightly fussy, colorful womenswear-inspired pieces is kind of the point.
