There could be no other choices this week. And we want you to know. T and Lo are truly at war over this one.
T’s Defense: I have to admit, this solidified something for me I didn’t realize until this year. I want the best actress nominees and winners – the standard-bearers – to serve up a dazzling and glamorous elegance more than I want them to push the envelope or make me gag with their fierceness. I still love some good head-turning, jaw-dropping fashion on the Oscars red carpet, but I appreciate when an actress chooses to set herself apart as a figure of achievement and I think this look – which is FLAWLESS – does that perfectly. She has put herself up on that pedestal looking exactly as if she belonged there.
Lo’s Defense: Must I? Really? Because this is so stunning and weird and awesome; so queer and out-there and off-the-beaten path that I’d probably just love it for those reasons alone, but it’s also just incredibly on-brand for her. And so outside the Ralph Lauren box that I feel I need to commend the team for doing so right by her. It’s memorably and beautiful and a perfect representation of its wearer. You couldn’t ask for a better Oscars red carpet look.
TWO VERY DISTINCT TAKES ON OSCAR FASHION OMG HOW WILL YOU HANDLE ALL OF THIS?
Vote now and get us to stop fighting, kittens!
