2019 CMA Awards: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Keep it Tight

Gotta hand it to Miss Nicole. She’s really mastered the art of threading the needle on being a supportive wife to a celebrity husband and reminding everyone she’s a star in her own right – all without looking like a spotlight-grabber.

To be fair, this is a pretty loudly declarative sort of frock. No wilting flower, she.  But then again, why should she be? Especially on a night when the style brief for most of the other women attendees emphasizes the very loudness and sparkle she’s exhibiting? She’s dressed appropriately for the occasion. Sure, she could have come out in some sort of demure sister-wife gown – and be considered right on trend, to boot.

But there’s something to be said about showing up in a dress that says “I’m the gorgeous international movie star he snagged,” rather than simply “It’s an honor to be here to support my husband.” Not that there’s anything wrong with the latter message. She’s sent it plenty of times before, but girlfriend felt like being a little dazzling tonight for whatever reasons and hubs doesn’t seem to have a problem with it at all. They look cute together.

Having said that, the party tinsel on the hem is kind of awful and we don’t think the naked sandals work at all. Especially next to his cartoon boots.
