Kittens, when these folks weren’t piling on the hideous satin, they were wrapping themselves up in some gorgeously rich autumnal tones. Very few of them hit the mark, but we give a lot of them credit for being a little bold this week. Still, these are the leftovers, which means you should tread lightly if you’re on the lookout for fabulosity. It’s not here, darlings.
Ansel Elgort in Ralph Lauren
Thurston Howell the XI here was born to wear this stuff.
Brooke Shields
Why Miss Brooke. Look at you, getting all sassy with your no-pants. We’re not sure the cut of the jacket works for this kind of look but it sure is a nice jacket.
Danielle Macdonald in Kate Spade New York
Great color, fit and shape. The textile looks a little flimsy and the shoes were very much the wrong choice, though.
Ellen Pompeo in Martin Grant
It’s just a little too clowny for us, but credit to her for coming close to pulling off that nearly impossible color story.
Iman in Michael Kors Collection
She looks fabulous and she knows it. The design is nothing to get excited about and honestly might’ve been completely forgettable on someone else, but that’s the power of the Iman…
Iman
She can make the most basic items look drop-dead stunning.
Jenna Dewan
We’re all for some coat action on the red carpet, but this one’s not so photogenic and seems to be dimming the charms of the dress underneath.
Juliette Lewis
The dress is okay, but it needs jewelry and those shoes – cute as they are – don’t go with it.
Kate Beckinsale
A bandeau under a bolero over high-waisted baggy pants? Girl, just what kind of 1994 nonsense are you trying to pull here?
Kathryn Hahn in Carolina Herrera
Is it us or does the skirt look like it has nothing whatsoever to do with the top half?
Kelly Rowland
This all appears to be in snowflake-y order.
Marisa Tomei in Michael Kors Collection
We’ve seen Duchess Meghan try so many variations on the trench coat dress this past year, but this is the most original and eye-catching take we’ve seen yet.
Mena Suvari in Cult Gaia
Wrinkly satin in a drab color! Thanks, we hate it!
Michelle Dockery in Acne Studios
Oof. Not even you, Lady Mary.
Mindy Kaling in Anita Dongre
Working her style sweet spot.
Minnie Driver
Even if the backdrop wasn’t white, this isn’t a great dress for a flash-picture situation. None of the details read and you’re left with a slightly mumsy shape.
Tiffany Haddish in Michael Kors Collection
She really should stick with Kors as much as possible. He does right by her.
Tuppence Middleton in Christopher Kane
Points for serving some serious drama, but all of the various panels and elements feel randomly thrown together.
