We’re thrilled that our girl Rhea Seehorn picked up a Golden Globe for her work in what we considered one of the best shows of the year, Pluribus. We’re considerably less thrilled by her dress for the occasion.

While it’s true that we’ve spent the last twenty years intoning some variation on “If you want to win the trophy, you must become the trophy,” it’s also true that we’ve had a longstanding opinion that white blonde ladies should be careful about what shades of gold they choose to drape on themselves. This just looks harsh and brassy on her. It doesn’t help that the textile is hellaciously stiff and heavy-looking. It also doesn’t help that the proportions are kind of terrible on her. We think she does well with dramatic looks with a bit of an edge to them, which is why it’s a surprise to see her trying to work such a basic sort of design. You need strong shapes and bold contrasts, Rhea.
