It’s middle-of-the-road Mother-of-the-Bride. There is absolutely no reason for her to be dressing like this for such a major promo tour. We realize she’s not big on the razzle-dazzle and she seems to have a dislike of the world of high fashion, going by some of her comments over the years, but choices like these are simply terrible for her. And she doesn’t even look comfortable in it.

Kudos to their tailors, because they’re both very well-fitted. David has a knack for working pattern, but we don’t think the tie goes with the suit here. Love Sir Elton’s brooches.

Black velvet suit seems like an odd choice for late May. Even if the weather called for it, it’s not the most photogenic look in the world, seeing as how it literally sucks up light. Still, that gray streak covers a lot of style sins.
