We got a chance to catch a preview screening of this last night and we’re currently putting the final touches on our review, so we’re just gonna do Miss Big-Time Director Olivia Wilde a solid here and get to some pre-gushing.
We realize this is a bit goofy, but her promo style for this film has been something of a revelation. Her debut as a director seems to have loosened her up a bit in terms of her style choices. Not that she was ever bland or haphazard with her style; just that it seems to have a renewed sense of energy and – this part’s important – fun to it. The film’s getting fantastic reviews (and rightly so), making this promo tour a bit of a victory lap as well as a signal of her new career direction. Why shouldn’t a gal have a little fun with her fashion at that moment? Put on your big feathered cape, Miss Woman. We don’t think it’s chic, but we do think it’s exactly right for someone who’s feeling on top of the world right now.
