Cannes Style File: Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton and Chanel

There’s been a lot of gorgeousness and glam on the Cannes red carpets so far, but we can’t help feeling Selena’s being left behind in the race. We hated that quilted skirt she wore the other day, which turned out to be a pretty good forecast of where her style choices were going to continue to lead her. It’s been awkward or unfinished looks ever since, we’re afraid.

This is a pillow case, dear. While we can’t be convinced to love the design, we suppose there’s a time and a place for this sort of look. Cannes doesn’t strike us as the venue for it. Cannes is either high-fashion or tacky glamour. This dress is too dull to be either, we’re afraid.

Oh holy Jesus, no. That is a velour track suit with delusions of being Chanel. That is a look that absolutely should not exist. And you have to figure her style team agreed on some level because why on earth would they do that to her hair and put those earrings on her? Both choices are terrible for the kind of outfit she’s wearing. Unless the goal was “Let’s make Selena look eighty today,” in which case: Mission Accomplished, everyone.
