Because the fashion never stops if you’re a duchess.
Meghan Markle in Victoria Beckham
After a boldly colorful morning stop, Megs is back in her neutrals. Can’t really criticize that in this instance because it’s a sharp look. It’s coordinated to a level we probably wouldn’t recommend for anyone not making a highly photographed public appearance or not a member of the BRF, but the matchy shoes and bag are just the pops the look needs to avoid looking too sterile or medical in tone, a situation not particularly helped by that combination sailor/nurse’s cap. A hat like that needs a more severe sort of high-fashion look below it to really work, but even then, it probably wouldn’t suit her. Still, it’s two really great looks in a row for the Duchess. She may have finally figured out her pregstyle.
Kate Middleton in Catherine Walker
For a long time, we didn’t think Kate had much of a handle on her hat style either, but in recent years, she’s really figured out which ones work best for her. This is a stunning look. She always looks amazing in these military-style coats. Can’t say we love the taupe accessories, but black ones would have made this look harsh, white ones would make it look cheap, and aside from introducing an entirely different color to the mix (which we wouldn’t recommend because a look this strong shouldn’t get a pop of contrasting color), we’re not sure what else would have worked except fully matching them to the coat and hat, but that would make it look too much like a uniform.
