Miss Eva is back on the red carpet to remind you that NO ONE does the red carpet quite like her.
But we sure wish more folks did it like her. Iris Van Herpen does not make easily wearable clothes but if you’re someone who can work one of her looks the way it was meant to be worked – and Eva is definitely one of those people – then you’d be a fool not to bring her out on the red carpet with you every chance you get. What a stunning design.
Having said that, we’re going to have to complain a bit about the styling. A dress this unconventional doesn’t call for standard hair and makeup, and we think the idea of a dramatically clean and pale face (Tilda Swinton style) hovering over this dress makes for a great look. But the bold red lip and the messy hair just make it look like she didn’t have time to finish. We’d have rec’d the opposite approach: a strong eye (which always looks great on her) and a nude lip, just to play into that otherworldly feeling. And we tend to think a design this meticulous calls for the exact opposite of sloppy hair. She needed something sleek and lacquered.
