Amandla steps out in some fun suiting and shuts our mouths about runway styling.
Normally we hate when a look goes unchanged from runway to red carpet, but we think there’s a special dispensation allowed when you’re playing around with gender expectations. There’s something perfectly androgynous about the look, allowing it to work as-is for a broad range of people. The weird lapels and even the slightly awkward cut of the pants gives it modern-to-futuristic feel, as if she was starring in a movie set ten years in the future. It just works. She looks great and she couldn’t be more on-point for a “New Hollywood” party. She looks like what’s next.
