We’ll say this about Miss Angela: She has no time or interest in quiet, demure fashion. Her choices take up space and make you look. Are they chic?
Well…
Angela Bassett at the Entertainment Weekly Pre-SAG Party in Mario Dice
No. The answer to the question posed is “No,” we’re sometimes sorry to say. Her face and hair look amazing here, as they almost always do. But that dress is just too much. It’s so much that you can barely even see it as a dress. It just looks like she’s got fringe and lace wrapped around her.
Angela Bassett at the SAG Awards in Georges Chakra Couture
Oof. Absolutely not. It’s an interesting technique, but like Gemma Chan’s Oscar de la Renta, the effect comes off too sloppy and craftsy. The neckline is way too wide, the lining of the skirt looks a little chintzy from the front, the gray color isn’t the best choice for her and those shoes are almost comically bad with it.
Lady, you are a stunning diva but your red carpetry rarely lives up to you.
