It was a weird sort of week on the red carpet front and it kind of feels like these two dresses stumbled their way up to the showdown by default. The editorial meeting over the matter went something like “I don’t know… Emma Stone?” “Okay um… I guess that means Emily Blunt, then.”
Lo’s Defense: Okay, it did take me a minute to come around to this choice, but the more I’m looking at it, the more I’m happy to stand by it. You don’t always see the stars busting out something this intense for a late premiere far into the promotional tour. It’s definitely overdesigned but I’m starting to come around on the whole idea of it because that sort of sparkly, slightly ridiculous whimsy couldn’t be more on-brand for a Disney premiere.
T’s Defense: I can’t say I love the hair and I definitely wish the fit was better, but she is serving me high-fashion glamour and I’ll never stop being here for that. The neckpiece is what truly makes it and the sandals do a great job of completing the look. It’s dramatic, bold, and reeks of luxury. Can’t hate that for a red carpet.
Silver vs. Gold, darlings! Whimsy vs. … more whimsy, we guess. Vote like your life depended on it!
