We have some slight quibbles with this, but we’re gonna do Miss Amy a solid here and give her some positive encouragement. This is the right direction for her style to go:
Quibbles: We’re not fans of soft pink gowns, the velvet clutch is too much, and the sash needs some zhuzhing and straightening (although that last one’s a minor issue).
Things we love: The sweep and drape of it. The cuffs and pleating. The whimsical little oh-so-Schiaparelli heart. More than anything else: the silhouette, which is lovely and elegant and gives her some personality, unlike the featureless sheaths she favored for so long. We think the fit could be ever-so-slightly better and we think a dress like this requires some careful maneuvering to get from place to place without looking sloppy, but we very much like the idea of her in these vaguely ’40s-retro styles.
