Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh meet with the President and First Lady of the United States Barack Obama and his wife Michelle in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle ahead of a private lunch hosted by the Queen.
Our first thought was “What a shame Oscar didn’t live to see this.” This is the first time Michelle has worn the brand, and Oscar was fairly vocal about his disappointment that the First Lady had avoided wearing his designs. Our second thought was, “Then again, he probably didn’t design this dress,” which makes us wonder if FLOTUS isn’t a master at delivering a long, slow, subtle burn.
Anyway, it’s … okay. We neither love nor hate it, but it does strike us as a bit too focus-pulling for the venue. Don’t dress to outshine the Queen on her birthday.
