Lily Collins in Maticevski at the “Love, Rosie” Tokyo Premiere

When we got up before the sun to check out the photo wires and figure out what our topics will be today, we were faced with a seemingly endless array of plain black dresses on red carpets. It’s for that reason alone that we chose Miss Lily to kick off our Thursday; because she’s one of the few ladystars currently not dressed like she’s heading to a funeral.

It’s got great impact from far away, but up close, the fabric looks extremely stiff and heavy. And the visible white zipper is an eyesore, unfortunately. Also: the shoes are a little too plain for the look and while she can sport a fresh face well, both her features and the dress called for a little more war paint than that. In fact, the overly plain styling makes it look like she’s here for a dress fitting rather than here to wow the crowd.
