To be honest, we feel like this picture could have been taken at any time over the last 3 or 4 years. She’s admirably consistent with her style, but it’s to the point of being extremely restrictive with it. In fact, the only lady star we can think of who has a narrower range than her would be Angelina Jolie, but with Angie, she has the benefit of hiding behind a much plainer, less colorful and sparkly aesthetic than Eva’s. Angie goes for plain black or white looks without a lot of frippery. We won’t say it works for her all the time (because we’ve been complaining about it for years), but it’s not quite so egregiously narrow as Eva’s look, which is always sheer and beaded, rendered in jewel tones. It’s almost as if this level of restrictive style consistency almost requires that you dial back on the more identifiable elements in order for it to work.
Put it this way: Angelina Jolie always looks like she’s wearing the same style of outfit, over and over again. Eva literally looks like she’s wearing the same outfit every time she goes out.
She looks good. We’re not claiming otherwise. But we’d love to see her get away from the femme fatale aesthetic for a while.
