The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes got a waiver from SAG AFTRA which means all of its cute young stars got themselves spiffied up for the Berlin premiere. Let’s be mean to them.
Oh, we’re just kidding. We’ll only be mildly judgmental.
Rachel Zegler in Alexander McQueen
It’s kind of hard not to see this as an homage to the Katniss flaming dresses of the original films, although it’s thankfully not too literal or we’d be sitting here huffing and puffing about cosplay. It’s pretty and dramatic. She looks great in black and red. We don’t love the bustline, though. In fact, we hate it.
Tom Blyth in Givenchy
He kind of won us over when we got to the feet. Overall, this sort of style (shiny black suit, t-shirt, gold chain) reads strip club bouncer to us, but it almost works for him. The fit is a little off in the jacket and the pants could need a minor hemming, but this suits him better than it should.
Josh Andrés Rivera in Dior Homme
We’re upset about the turtleneck, but other than that, he looks pretty good.
Hunter Schafer in Schiaparelli Couture
She’s a living paint-by-numbers set and we kind of love it. The colors are harsh, the pattern is nearly overwhelming, and it’s hard to claim that this is pretty, but it’s so perfectly suited to her. She does really well with weirdly dramatic pieces like this. We understand why white pumps were chosen here, but this pair is a little too conventional and bridal for such a kickass frock.
