A bunch of legendary ladies came out for the premiere of a film that we could not be more conflicted about.
It’s a dream to see a cast that includes Rita Moreno, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Sally Field, but it’s a damn shame it had to be for a football film in tribute to Tom Brady. Ah well. The Lord giveth to the gays and the Lord taketh away from them.
Rita Moreno in Emilia Wickstead
We love ourselves a legend, but we don’t think this look is working. The gloves are way too heavy and a little too close to her skin tone. If they’d been in black they might have worked better, but they still don’t coordinate all that well with the jumpsuit.
Jane Fonda in Max Mara
Simple, classic, flattering and tasteful. She went through a period about a decade ago where she was wearing all of these outrageous high-fashion pieces, and while we think Jane can pull off anything she wants to, we think the returns on that kind of style were diminishing. In the last couple of years she’s dialed things way back and we think it’s been to her benefit. She just looks more comfortable with herself, less stressed about being perfect. Love the silver pumps. So many folks seem to have forgotten that they’re a neutral accessory.
Lily Tomlin
Flawless. No notes. Love the jewelry.
Sally Field
The suit looks great on her, although we would have advised her (if asked) that piecrust collars are for the very young (if they’re for anyone at all) and that she should’ve buttoned the jacket for pictures. We can understand the thrill of having pockets on the red carpet, but shoving your hands into your jacket is never a good idea.
