Selena Gomez Filming Scenes for “Only Murders In The Building”

Before we get into the eye-popping costume work here, we think a little context is in order, courtesy of Hulu’s PR department:

‘Only Murders In The Building’
In 2021 comes Hulu’s newest original series – starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. The untitled comedy surrounds three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a murder occurs in their NYC apartment building, they are forced to work together to figure out what happened.

That’s quite the odd little trio. It’ll be interesting to see Gomez up against two legendary scene-stealers with acting styles pretty far at odds with her own. It’s so counter-intuitive that it’s piqued our interest.

Anyway, back to the costume, which we love:

It’s vividly telegenic while also being a pretty good representation of a kind of girl you’d see walking a New York sidewalk in the cold-weather months. To be fair, you’d probably see this exact style rendered in slightly less eye-popping colors more often than you’d see one in these Bert-and-Ernie shades, but that’s what makes it work as a costume; you won’t be able to miss her on the screen. It’s cute, focus-pulling, and tells you a little about the character.
