We’ve had the unpleasant task of serving you quite a bit of extremely questionable if not downright ugly celebrity style choices today, and for that, we are terrible sorry, darlings. We’d love nothing more than to show you an endless array of prettiness and chic fabulosity, even if it would make our jobs a bit more difficult. Unforch, “pretty” just isn’t on the style menu at the moment. The good news is, a trend that eschews basic prettiness for boldness and loudness often manages to serve up some eye-popping fashion that’s worth considering. The bad news is, it only manages that rarely and instead we just get a lot of WTFery. The OTHER good news is Lucy Boynton knows exactly what the hell she’s doing.

We ADORE this.
Like we said about her somewhat hideous Erdem dress at the SAG Awards, being weird is more interesting than being chic. And sure, we question some of the design choices, like those eye-searing blue ribbons, but this is so attention-gaining and so unlike the normal awards season red carpet fare that we can’t hate it. It’s rock-and-roll with an haute couture feel to it. It’s bold and loud and declarative in that way only a gown with a bigass beaded dragon can be. Pretty? Fuck that. This is fierce.
