These two are taking polar opposite approaches to their promo style. Hailee’s all over the map while John sticks to what works – a little too much.
We’re very happy for John that he found a look that is helping him as he transitions to movie stardom. Cant’ really say it’s not working for him. But it’s one thing to wear a blue plaid suit extremely similar to the blue plaid suit you wore earlier in the week…
But it’s a bit much to wear that second suit again in the same week. You’ve gotta shake things up a little, mister. There are other suits.
As for Hailee, first she tried the Professional Woman Suit:
It’s not setting us on fire or anything, but it’s a decent enough look. The jacket hem seems to hit at a strange spot and we’re not feeling this off-white for her, but it’s a decent enough look for a photo call. She’s a lady who loves to mix things up, so it’s perhaps not a surprise that she’d opt for something quite a bit showier for the premiere. She didn’t disappoint:
Between this and Janelle’s business chaps, there’s this odd trend for professional-looking design tropes crossed with strange cutouts or oddly sexed-up motifs. We don’t actually mind the idea here, but the gray seems like an odd choice for such an exuberant sort of design. We think it works better with the red top in the look book. The gray one looks too much like a sports bra.
