Grace Jones’ Beauty & Style Evolution
In honor of Grace Jones’ 78th birthday, take a look at how her beauty and style has evolved over the years.
It’s no secret that Grace Jones is rare. Born today 78 years ago, the legendary Jamaican-American singer, supermodel, and actress has been a defining figure in beauty and style ever since, making history as one the greatest icons to grace Earth.
Her avant-garde style obliterated the mold of what a Black woman is supposed to be, dominating the Studio54 club scene in the 1970s and ‘80s in a fashion we’ve never seen before. The year the club was founded, for example, she wore a doobie with a platinum blonde ponytail attached to the top. In other looks, like at a performance at New York’s Roseland Ballroom the following year, she transformed into a primal tiger (next to a real one on stage nonetheless) with a spray painted body suit just like the carpet of the disco.
How to fall in love with humanity again
Tech culture has made contempt for humanity feel enlightened. We can do better.
We’re living in a world that digital technologies and social media have made more fragmented and alienating. We are busier, more tired, more lonely, more uncertain than ever about the future and what it holds. So we’re at a low point in our ability to place faith in our fellow humans. And instead of looking at the deeper causes of that — the breakdown of the social fabric and of institutions and of local networks of care — there is an attempt to normalize and naturalize anti-humanism.
It’s an attempt to treat it not as a symptom of some disease or malaise in society — which is how I see it — but rather to treat it as a new, more enlightened frame of mind. To say: If you’re a humanist, you’re somehow stuck in the past, you have this overly romantic attachment to humans, you’re committing a fallacy of exceptionalism.
6 Smart Packing Rules Fashion People Swear By for Stress-Free Travel and Effortless Airport Style
From strategising your outfits to streamlining your toiletries
The worst part of a holiday is the airport—from late o’clock packing to squeezing your toiletries into a resealable plastic bag so that everyone at security is privy to your favourite eye cream. It doesn’t have to be this way, however. The airport can be part of the fun—within reason—and you also can be one of those people who breeze through departures with a no-muss, no-fuss attitude, their minimal shell tote (Valesque) perched on top of their ridged aluminium carry-on (Rimowa).
This won’t happen overnight but, instead, by taking advice from the experts. These frequent fliers know a thing or two about travelling in style, with in-flight beauty routines you can perform at 30,000ft and advice for how to pack light but also pack right.
These are the eight rules to live by when it comes to not enduring but acing your next airport journey.
9 biggest things we learned in Kylie Minogue’s new Netflix documentary
A second cancer diagnosis?
2026 is proving that Netflix knows exactly how to make a compelling documentary series. Whether it’s the misty Scottish Highlands in Should I Marry a Murderer?, the insular Utah community explored in Trust Me: The False Prophet, or the dating app horror stories at the centre of Worst Ex Ever, the streamer has mastered the art of the true story.
This time, we’re travelling back to the glittering rise of Kylie Minogue. The Australian pop icon is known for her euphoric hits, headline-making romances, dazzling smile, and highly publicised battle with breast cancer.
There’s Now a HydraFacial for Your Scalp—and It Promises Fuller, Healthier Hair in Just One Session
I put the raved-about treatment to the test
I’ll be the first to admit that I spend a significant amount of time caring for the skin on my face, but this doesn’t often extend to other parts of my body in quite the same way—including my scalp. That was, until I discovered Hydrafacial’s Keravive treatment, which is essentially a heavy-duty facial for your scalp.
If you’re pining for enviably full and healthy hair, scalp care is an unmissable step in your routine. And although scalp oils and specialist shampoos can go a long way, it’s scalp treatments that will provide the best instant and lasting results.
Harry Styles’ Team Responds to Fan Complaints About Obstructed ‘Together, Together’ Tour Sightlines
Concertgoers have shared criticism online over Styles’ ambitious staging design.
Fans attending the opening dates of Harry Styles’ ‘Together, Together’ tour have shared concerns online about obstructed views from premium floor sections.
After the tour’s first two shows, which took place at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena over the weekend (May 16 and 17), clips circulating social media showed some concertgoers struggling to see due to the height of the stage, equipment, and a large production set-up, prompting criticism over Styles’ ambitious staging design.
23 best ballet flats and how editors are wearing them this spring/summer
The shoe that’s en pointe right now.
Make no mistake: whilst they’ve been a total trend of late, the best ballet flats are as much a capsule wardrobe essential as your favourite fashion trainers or loafers.
It’s hard to know which trends are worth investing in for the long haul; maybe you jumped on the jelly shoes trend too soon, or the fuzzy footwear movement made you forget about how much it rains in the UK. But ballet shoes have proven to be versatile and the easy way to add polish to any outfit. Trust me: if you buy a pair of ballet flats now, you’re sure to reach for them next season, too. (Read our guide to how to style ballet flats for proof – there’s a plethora of choice).
The Real Reason Everyone Is Obsessed With ‘Rivals’. (It’s Deeper Than You Think)
The second season has been an even bigger hit. Here’s our theory as to why.
There are so many reasons why everyone has fallen in love with Rivals. The stellar cast (Danny Dyer! Katherine Parkinson! Rupert Everett!), the distinct Eighties aesthetic (endless hairspray! Retro interiors! Taffeta everything!), and of course, the Jilly Cooper of it all – the series is based on the late novelist’s beloved 1988 novel of the same name. But its defining characteristic is undoubtedly its obsession with naked bodies, outrageous horniness, so much sex the whole thing is practically an advertisement for good old-fashioned bonking.
21 beach wedding guest dresses perfect for destination ceremonies
That can all be worn barefoot.
Destination weddings don’t always call for the best beach wedding guest dresses, in fact if you’re wondering what to wear to a summer wedding abroad then there’s a whole host of options, but if you are in fact headed to a sandy resort, you’ve landed in the right place.
As well as booking your flights (and a hotel or Airbnb), finding the right wedding guest dress is up there with one of the most important to-dos. And it isn’t as simple as you might first think.
How Queer Clubbing Has Shaped Fashion as We Know It
While its current pop cultural airtime might suggest it, queer clubbing isn’t experiencing a renaissance, exactly. For as long as sound systems, low-lit rooms and, well, queer people have existed, the club has served as a refuge; a sanctuary from a hostile world, a site of creative resistance and (often self) invention that has shaped the world at large.
Even over the past two years, there are almost too many examples to my point. Era-defining musical outputs from Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, and FKA twigs (and soon, from mother Madonna herself); fashion collections from brands from GmbH and Oscar Ouyang to Seán McGirr’s McQueen and even Emilia Wickstead (whose spring 2026 collection drew upon the style of gay patron saint/sinner Robert Mapplethorpe); and just this week, Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid, which received a feverish reception at Cannes Film Festival.
Denim Mini Skirts Are Replacing Classic Jeans For Spring 2026: Shop The 9 Best Styles Now
Make sky-high hemlines your new season staple.
We recently extolled the virtues of floor-sweeping statement skirts and waxed lyrical about the styling potential of classic midis. But a certain sleeper style we’ve not yet heralded has been quietly rising through the ranks ever since September last year, when Jonathan Anderson sent several models sauntering down Dior’s SS26 runway wearing sky-high denim mini skirts – a style that is now trending for spring.
8 Coffee Orders Every Summer Traveler Should Know
Here’s what to order in the birthplace of espresso, the home of Starbucks, and beyond.
To paraphrase a line from a famous American doughnut chain, the world runs on coffee. Originally from Ethiopia, coffee plants and beans traveled across continents, eventually earning a spot alongside tea as an essential daily drink. Along the way, every culture put its spin on the caffeinated beverage, whether through high-pressure machines or the addition of sweeteners or frothy, steamed milk. Here’s my ranking of the world’s eight most iconic coffee drinks and where to sip them like a local.
The New ‘Winona Pixie’ Is The Most Flattering Haircut For Short Hair
Why this soft, elegant and timeless style is set to dominate this season’s trends.
Once a staple haircut pioneered by Winona Ryder and Halle Berry in the ’90s, the textured French pixie hairstyle has long reigned supreme among lovers of short haircuts. Breezy, flattering and brimming with effortless movement, the choppy style has a timeless allure, and now it’s making a bold return for 2026.
The latest adopters include Kristen Stewart and Gracie Abrams, who have both traded longer lengths for this ultra-short, shapely pixie cut. Stewart debuted a slightly longer take on the style during a recent appearance at the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival at the Palais des Festivals this week, while Abrams turned heads at this year’s Met Gala with a sleek, polished interpretation of the trend.
How Chefs Save Money on Fruit at the Grocery Store
Grocery prices may be rising, but smart decisions can keep your fridge still stocked with fruit.
Grocery prices have been steadily rising, and shoppers are more aware than ever that each item they add to their cart contributes to a larger bill at checkout.
Ingredients we often take for granted — like strawberries, cherries, or kiwi — have started to feel like luxuries, as the average retail price for fresh fruit rose 1.2% in March 2026 compared with the same month last year, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. While that number may seem small, it adds up when you buy berries every week.
On Her 80th Birthday, Look Back at Cher’s Inimitable Style
Six decades. Endless transformations. One Cher.
Over the singer’s illustrious career, she’s embraced everything from the ’60s flower power to rock’n’roll leather.
Born Cherilyn Sarkisian in El Centro, California, Cher burst onto the scene with then-husband Sonny Bono in the early 1960s. While the duo were known for their adventurous sartorial spirits—think feathers, beads, and vests galore—Cher, with her long black hair and statuesque figure, always stood out.
15 Soft, Milky Nail Ideas in Shades of Strawberry, Ivory, Sky Blue, and More
Plus, sheer polishes to shop.
The biggest nail trends happening right now have nothing to do with color—instead, they’re all about finish. Translucent manicures are everywhere, in shades like strawberry milk, creamy yellow, off-white, and cool, misty lavender. “They tie into the quiet luxury trend of nails being groomed with just a bit of coverage,” says celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec, who spotted semi-sheer nuance nails on a trip to Tokyo’s Nail Expo in late 2025 and helped predict their arrival stateside.
The Best Store-Bought Chocolate Chip Cookies, According to Prue Leith
There’s one grocery chain you should be heading to for an impressive premade cookie.
For American households, no dessert is more ubiquitous — or nostalgic — than a chocolate chip cookie. Whipping up a batch, likely using the recipe on the back of a bag of Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips, is an early baking memory for millions of people across the country.
Whether you sometimes bake them from scratch or avoid the kitchen at all costs, you’ve probably purchased premade chocolate chip cookies, too. Packaged versions of the treat have become just as popular as their freshly baked counterparts and are usually much more accessible.
A Full Guide to Removing Waterproof Mascara Without Scrubbing Your Eyes, According to a Dermatologist
Step 1? Put down the washcloth.
Mascara that doesn’t budge is all fun and games until it, well, doesn’t come off. I love the idea of waterproof mascara, because it’s not just waterproof, it’s lifeproof. It won’t smear off as you sweat, nor will it transfer to your eyelids throughout the day. But that payoff often comes at a cost when you’re left scrubbing at your lashes at the end of the day—a major no-no, according to dermatologists, ophthalmologists, and basically anyone who cares about the skin around your eyes.

5 Smart Uses for Single Socks That Have Lost Their Match
From cleaning mitts to storage solutions, single socks are not a lost cause.
No matter how diligent you are about laundry, single socks are basically inevitable. Before you know it, you’re left with a pile of mismatched strays in varying colors and designs. But don’t throw them away just yet—those solo socks can still be surprisingly useful.
Ahead, we chatted with two organizers who share their favorite practical uses for those straggler socks, and why certain materials work better for specific tasks than others. Spoiler: A single sock can do more than you think.
These Are the Boarding Habits That Annoy Flight Attendants the Most—and They Could Even Delay Your Trip
Stay in your seat, load your carry-on properly, and take care of business before you board.
While nobody boards a plane thinking, “What can I do to annoy the flight attendant?” the passenger habits that irk cabin crew aren’t always top of mind, either. Travel + Leisure recently spoke with two veterans of the skies about the common boarding behaviors passengers may not realize create extra work for flight attendants—or, in some cases, even delay departure.
Here’s what they wish travelers would stop doing before the plane takes off.
