Kate Winslet Joining ‘Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum’
The Oscar winner will play an undisclosed role in Andy Serkis’ feature.

Kate Winslet has wrapped up her time in the Avatar universe, but is joining another franchise with close ties to New Zealand. The Oscar winner is in talks for Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which will go into production in the country this year.
Details of Winslet’s role were not disclosed. Andy Serkis is directing the film and reprising the role of Gollum, the tragic figure he originated in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy in the early 2000s and which he reprised for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

28 Spring Movies That Bring April Showers and May Flowers
And where to stream them!

What makes for the best spring movies? Let’s be honest, there aren’t a ton of great St. Patrick’s Day or non-religious Easter flicks to screen in your backyard on the first warm evening of the year. No, the movies that spring to mind (ha ha) when we think of springtime usually have something to do with weddings, prom (or other end-of-school milestones, like graduations or crazy one-last-adventure all-nighters), or light magic. If witches have fall, then fairies have spring.
It’s not always about the actual date. Titanic, for instance, takes place in April (the flashback part, anyway)…but come on, with all the ice, it’s a total winter movie. And we’re not just gonna slap Garden State in the category because Garden is in the title.
No, to compile a list a list of the best spring movies we had to think and, moreover, feel, holistically, searching for the joy, freedom, and romance that define the season. Comedy and bright colors don’t hurt, either.

What is the manosphere? And how does it impact women and girls?
“You don’t have to be a millionaire influencer to access the manosphere; it’s under our noses, all the time.”

If you’ve just spent 90 minutes watching Louis Theroux’s latest documentary, Inside The Manosphere, on Netflix, you’re bound to have some questions – and probably a deep feeling of dread. What is the manosphere? Is it an actual place? How does one leave it?
As ever, Theroux’s documentary explores the extreme end of the spectrum, interviewing the likes of Harrison Sullivan (HSTikkyTokky), Myron Gaines, and Justin Waller – all of whom have forged careers in the so-called manosphere. But you don’t have to be a self-styled millionaire influencer to access the manosphere; it’s under our noses, all the time.

How to Wear Prints to Work—According to Mariko Kuo
The corporate lawyer on how to bring personality to your office outfits without compromising on professionalism

I’m starting with a bold statement: prints are one of the smartest ways to introduce personality without sacrificing authority in the office. Over the years, I’ve come to realise the key to wearing prints lies in strategic deployment.
At the start of my legal career, my confidence at work was often shaky. Wearing prints and patterns seemed like a risky affair, especially when surrounded by a sea of suits. I remember distinctly wandering around Portobello Market one weekend, having just bought a floral dress I loved. A thought lingered: If only I could wear this to work on Monday. Immediately followed by another: Does this look too Little House on the Prairie? Will I stop being taken seriously the moment I walk into the office?

Bella Hadid on Rebellious Beauty, Daily Lymph Drainage, and her 3-Minute Make-Up Essentials
The new Prada Beauty ambassador gets candid about her routine

Every decade or so, a new “it girl” arrives and rewrites the rules of modern femininity. Bella Hadid, who has arguably become the defining supermodel of the 2020s, has earned her accolades: there’s her much-documented beauty and sartorial stylings, but what looms large is her fierce activism and vulnerability.
I spoke with Hadid ahead of her appointment as Prada Beauty’s new ambassador. It had been a whirlwind few weeks for the 29-year-old: deep in Fashion Week preparations, she would go on to walk for Saint Laurent and make her Prada runway debut, wearing not one but four looks.

Is rice water the secret to your healthiest, shiniest hair yet?
TikTok says so, so let’s break it down.

We will try anything in the name of great hair and if TikTok says rice water will give us glossy, strong ends then we’re all over it.
The hashtag #ricewater has had hundreds of millions of views. Countless viral videos show off women with long, shiny locks as reflective as a mirror, extolling the benefits of drenching their hair in rice water. Online searches of ‘rice water’ are booming, too, with searches for “rice water shampoo” and “rice water conditioner” rising on Google over the past year.

Get Ready for the Resurgence of Valentino Rockstud Pumps
The It shoe of the mid-aughts is having a glow-up.

When Miranda Priestly click-clacked back into The Devil Wears Prada-verse for the sequel, fans never could’ve predicted Valentino Rockstuds would be her circa-2025 sidekick. One TikTok content creator called it a “diabolical move and not in a good way.” Little did they know, The Devil Wears Prada 2 teaser played a pivotal role in reviving Valentino Rockstud pumps, 25 years after they already achieved world domination.

8 Best Shapewear Bodysuits That We Tested and Loved
Pieces that are comfy, compressive, and—crucially—easy to pee in.

If you only choose one sculpting undergarment, make it one of the best shapewear bodysuits. I love dressing up, and for years I’ve turned to various women’s shapewear to feel confident and supported. I used to gravitate toward shaper shorts since I mostly wear dresses—until I discovered that bodysuits can make you look snatched and curvy (a power combination) while often eliminating the need for a bra.

6 Best Self-Tan Lotion for Fair Skin
These glow-giving formulas are subtle, streak-free, and specifically designed for lighter skin tones.

The best self-tan lotions for fair skin can be surprisingly hard to find. If you’re pale, you know you choose one wrong formula and suddenly you’re streaky, orange, or patchy in all the wrong places. As a beauty journalist with pale Irish skin, I’ve tested dozens of self-tanning products over the years, and I know how tricky it can be to find a product that adds believable warmth without making you look like a Cheeto. Thankfully, they’ve come a long way in the last 10 years. You can now find formulas with subtle undertones, gradual development, and hydrating ingredients that also leave your skin soft and smooth.

How to Wear a Cardigan With Everything in Your Closet This Spring
You can totally reinvent the timeless classic with these outfit ideas and styling hacks.

You may think you know how to wear a cardigan—but with a few unexpected outfit combos and styling tricks, you can reinvent the timeless staple.
The best cardigans never go out of style, which is why buying one is a worthwhile investment no matter the trend du jour. Always a staple on the runways and a heavy presence in street style ensembles, the cardigan defies the fashion cycle. It looked just as good on Katharine Hepburn in the 1950s as it does on Bella Hadid nearly 75 years later, though the latter admittedly might be a slightly slinkier rendition. But therein lies the beauty of the cardigan: chunky or thin, cropped or long, cashmere or wool—there’s something for everyone and every style.

12 Strawberry Blonde Hair Color Ideas for a Luminous Spring Glow
From subtle babylights to glossy, all-over color.

The same way that dusting bronzer can make your complexion come alive, a lighter, brighter hair color can also give you an instant glow. Golden blonde hues are always more popular in spring—from old money blonde to a sprinkling of honey highlights—but this year, you can expect them to have a rosy, strawberry-tinted twist.
Celebrities like Isla Fisher and Jessica Chastain are known for their strawberry blonde strands, but you don’t need to be a natural redhead like these actresses in order to pull off the color. Strawberry blonde is a simple shift to make for those with naturally blonde hair, and strawberry blonde highlights can provide a lively pop of color on brunette bases. If winter has zapped your skin’s luminosity, a strawberry blonde hair transformation is one of the quickest ways to get it back—the sparkling, incandescent quality of the color will make you look like you were just vacationing somewhere warm.

Grace Kelly’s Engagement Ring Proved Luxury Doesn’t Have to Be Quiet—All About the 10 Carat Rock
The stunning 10.48-carat ring is a timeless classic only few celebrities have been able to recreate.

Grace Kelly’s whirlwind romance with Prince Rainier III of Monaco was that of a real life fairytale—and it featured an engagement ring to match. The legendary actress received a stunning Cartier sparkler from the royal in 1956, featuring a blinding 10.48-carat emerald-cut diamond set in platinum with two baguette-cut side stones—truly a timeless masterpiece fitting for a bride- and princess-to-be. The stunning rock became an instant global phenomena long before “going viral” was a thing and elevated the gold standard for engagement rings for decades to come.

The 3-Ingredient Drink Anthony Bourdain Said Is ‘One of the World’s Truly Great Cocktails’
It’s tart, sweet, and, as the iconic chef warns, strong.

While visiting over 80 countries worldwide and tasting local cuisines, Anthony Bourdain likely tried more dishes and drinks during his TV career than most of us will in a lifetime. Along the way, the iconic chef, author, and TV personality inevitably declared a few bites to be his favorites, like the humble bologna sandwich he fell in love with in São Paulo.
Longtime fans of Bourdain might remember that he especially enjoyed a few specific cocktails — including the Negroni and Sazerac — and one of the tipples that stood out to him the most also came from Brazil.

How Much Salt Should You Add to Pasta Water? Scientists Have an Answer
In a new study, researchers examined how salt and cook time shape pasta’s texture — and what pushes it from al dente to “mushy.”

It should be a simple process, really. Just turn on your stove, put a pot of water on, and toss in some pasta. Voilà, dinner is ready. But hold on, because there might be a more precise way to do things, according to science.
In March, a research team from across Europe published findings in the journal Food Hydrocolloids examining how cooking time and salt levels shape pasta’s internal structure — and, ultimately, its texture. As it turns out, the answer comes down to physics.

4 anonymous Oscars voters let loose on Academy Awards picks, react to Timothée Chalamet’s campaign: ‘F— that guy’
EW speaks to anonymous Academy members — a publicist, a director, an editor, and an actor — about who they voted for this year. See all of their shocking picks!

No phrase better provides a snapshot of the energy surrounding the end of the 2025-26 awards season than the one uttered by an Academy voter Entertainment Weekly anonymously surveyed about their Oscars picks: “Oh, yeah. F— that guy.”
That guy in question is former Best Actor frontrunner Timothée Chalamet, whose Marty Supreme campaign hit a roadblock in recent weeks after its star received criticism over what many felt were smug comments about his work — which he later followed up by making a heavily criticized jab at audiences losing interest in other art forms like opera and ballet.

The film marks Polley’s first since 2022’s Women Talking, the emotional ensemble drama that won her the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Polley, an actress herself, is also known for directing Away From Her and Take This Waltz, writing 2017’s Alias Grace miniseries, and playing herself on an episode of The Studio.

Nutty, complex, and balanced, it can enhance roasted vegetables, braised meats, and more.

Sometimes the smallest tweak to a recipe can make the biggest flavor impact. So it is with sherry vinegar, a pantry ingredient that nimbly heightens even the most everyday dishes—one of the reasons why chefs and accomplished home cooks reach for it time and again. We connected with a cookbook author/chef and a Spanish food product specialist to learn more about this Andalusian treasure and how to employ it to full effect.

Do You Really Need to Salt Eggplant? Here’s When You Should—and When to Skip It
We’re debunking the myth of bitter eggplant and setting the record straight about when to salt and when to skip.

For decades, salting eggplant was treated as gospel. Slice it, salt it, wait. No exceptions. But that rule is largely outdated—culinary ancient history.
Today’s eggplant doesn’t demand automatic salting. Food scientists point to plant chemistry, selective breeding, and modern cooking methods as the reasons why. Here’s how to decide when you need to take that extra step and salt the eggplant—and when you can skip it.

Airlines Are Cracking Down on This 1 Annoying Flying Habit—and a New Rule Could Get You Kicked Off Your Flight
It could even get you banned for life.

We’ve all been there: sitting quietly on a flight, minding our own business, when suddenly, a passenger decides to scroll through their TikTok feed with the audio on full blast. They don’t have headphones, or if they do, they’re nowhere to be found. And if you don’t have headphones, you’re forced to listen along.
Luckily, airlines are cracking down on streaming music or movies in public spaces without personal headphones. United Airlines recently added a new headphone policy to their Contract of Carriage, which states that the company can now deny boarding to anyone playing their audio out loud on a personal device—and can even ban them for life.
