Black suits are boring on the red carpet — when people who aren’t literal giants wear them, that is. His size lends looks like these a sense of drama and while we’d like to see him branch out a little more in terms of color and textile choices, we like that he’s willing to wear a fussy little collar to distinguish the look.

She’s definitely not taking the typical demurely professional style mode when actresses direct. This is weird and pretty, or weirdly pretty, or pretty in a weird way. Whichever order of words you use, it feels very much like her. We think it needs serious editing, but then she’d probably not wear it. Love the hair.

This is far and away the best he’s looked on this tour. We like that he wants to explore different aspects of menswear on the red carpet. It hasn’t always worked out well, but this look does because it feels coordinated. The shirt matching the coat was a smart touch. The print on the suit is a little ugly, though.

This is undeniably gorgeous. Her stylist Andrew Mukamal pushed theme-dressing into the mainstream with the Barbie tour and we have to say, he remains the master at doing it in way that centers the fashion over the branding — although to be fair, all of the looks are heavily tied to the film’s branding. It’s just that they’re legitimately high-fashion pieces that look spectacular on her. Most of them, anyway. What we’re trying to say here is that we don’t actually mind this, even if it does come off like cosplay. To us, it’s far enough away from true late 18th Century fashion that it can’t rightly be called cosplay to our way of thinking.

Quibbles aside, they look pretty amazing together.
