It was a very busy weekend for the stars, which means it’s a very busy week for us, the judgmental bitches who document everything they wear. Not that we’re complaining! But because there were three different awards ceremonies, we’re going to do a couple of these style files just to get caught up and to remind you all that we still have the Astra Film Awards and the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards to get through. Miss Amanda Seyfried, star of The Testament of Ann Lee? That’s your cue.
In Shushu/Tong at the Astra Film Awards

As we noted a week or two ago, she’s been pretty strictly working a black-and-white promo wardrobe, possibly as a way of embodying the religious themes of the movie. The thing is, if you’re not going to dress in strictly modest, religious-inspired styles, the tactic doesn’t actually do much in terms of promotion. This isn’t Barbie or Wicked. It’s not like there’s a recognizable “Ann Lee look.” On the other hand, maybe she’s just not feeling color at the moment. We wish she did, because she looks better in rich hues. This is a silly overdesigned frock.
In Giorgio Armani at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards

Thank you for stopping by, Michelle Pfeiffer. That’s not a knock on this look for being too mature somehow; just a note that it’s so generic, literally any white woman’s face could be sitting on top of it.
In Versace at the Golden Globe Awards

We wanted to like this, if only because it’s not black and it has an elevated glamour to it. You can’t really go wrong with a look like this, but all we can think is how much better it would come across in a bold red — or a bold anything, really. Can’t say we’re loving the lacquered hair either.
