The cast of Jay Kelly came out in some highly discussable looks for the LA premiere and for that we thank them. We’re still gonna be bitches about it, though.

We want to commend him for going to the effort of wearing a suit, something he has been famously loath to do throughout most of his career. It speaks to the buzz surrounding his performance and it’s just basic professionalism to dress like a grownup for an event where everyone else is going to be. But boy, is he ever uncomfortable here and that’s a shame. The fit is terrible and the shoes look geriatric. If you strictly refuse to engage with fashion in any way for decades, it means you won’t know how to wield it at those times when you might need to (see: roughly every wedding party in America in the last two decades, because there’s always that one guy). Clooney’s suit choices, like a lot of male stars, may skew toward the boring and generic, but the man knows how to wear a suit.

Attaboy, Champ. You look great in your big brother’s suit. Here’s five dollars for you. Buy yourself a Coke.

Well. It sure is a pretty bra, we’ll give it that. He’s not included in this lineup but she posed on the red carpet with her dad Bono, which serves as a nice reminder that stars really aren’t all that much like us, are they? Anyway, we’re not scandalized here, although we really dislike fashion that implies some sort of violence against the wearer. Keep the bra and the skirt, but lose the tattered top. There are ways to style the other two pieces that would look pretty, sexy, and not carry the whiff of assault.

As we said, the man knows how to wear a suit. It’s what makes up for his lack of interesting choices.

All of our teeth just rotted out of our heads. That is entirely too much precious sweetness for us to handle. Admittedly, she’s well suited to it, but the dress is twee enough. There’s no need to be adding more flowers to your person. And those shoes are kind of awful.

We don’t actually think anyone can make a zipup work under a double-breasted suit, but he’s young and skinny, so he gets a pass for almost making it work. It’s a lovely suit.

That is entirely too much beige for one white man to handle.

Everything about this feel randomly chosen. None of the pieces coordinate well with the others. The suit’s nice. The shoes and blouse need to go.

It’s always refreshing to see a male star play the receding dutiful spouse part when his wife’s got a premiere. His suit is nice and generic. It fits him well and we appreciate the dressy casualness of it. Her dress is gorgeous. We love a black and gold combo and it does good things for her. We’re less in love with the wispy wrap, but it lends it some drama. The shoes are chic but we don’t think they go with the dress.
