While it’s true that Cathy seems to enjoy the occasions where she gets to wear boots and jeans far more than any other royal outing, it’s also true that she just loves to get her 1938 royal style on whenever possible and a VE Day observance marks the best place to do it. The dress (which is a re-wear) is nice enough, but almost fatally mumsy — or it would be, if it weren’t so appropriate for the occasion. We tend to dislike her taste in hats more often than not, but this one is sharp, appropriate, and coordinates well with the dress. We were all excited when she wore those taupe pumps the other day, because it signaled the end of her obsessive matching, but this is one outfit where black pumps and a black bag make the most sense.
