Minka Kelly’s got herself a new western family drama because everything’s going to be Yellowstone-esque for the next year or so. Don’t worry. After that, all the shows will be ripping off The Pitt. It was ever thus. Anyway, the star of the upcoming Ransom Canyon stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live in a dress very far from your typical Texas Gal fashion.

It’s a bit grandiose for a late night chat, but at least she’s comfortable in it. The color looks amazing on her and the dramatic sweep and drape of the garment provide a ton of visual interest. You really can’t take your eyes off her. It’s a good dress for sitting, especially because it obscures some of the more annoying design elements. The batwing sleeves look incredibly irritating to manage and that cord detail at the waist is cutting into her in an unflattering way. The pleating and drape are making her ladies look amazing, which is kind of a shame because you can’t really see the effect when she’s seated. Still, it’s an interesting and hard-to-forget dress, which isn’t just half the battle, it’s the whole damn point.
