Queen Maxima and King Wilhelm stepped out in Doetinchem ahead of the upcoming King’s Concert on April 26th. They wore their best church clothes for the occasion.
Okay, before we say anything, we must address the King’s Men’s Wearhouse suit. We almost never talk about what the royal males are wearing because, to be quite blunt about it, no one cares. But the fit is pretty bad in the jacket and the way the sleeves attach at the shoulder is so poorly done that we feel comfortable saying it’s a shit suit. Incidentally, we’re not snobs about Men’s Wearhouse, which is a perfectly fine alternative for most consumers, but they’re also a place where you can pick up a cheap suit and such places, no matter what else is hanging on their racks, tend to become synonymous with cheap suits. As for Matchy Maxima, this is all fine. We never thought we’d be happy to see a royal in head-to-toe neutrals, but she uses color so often and so aggressively that it’s a pleasant relief to see her in something relatively subdued. The coat is gorgeous, but if we’re being honest, we think the dress looks chintzy.
