Two things we knew, going into the month of April: that the red carpet pickings would be slim for most of the month, and that we just needed to wait until Florence Pugh stepped out in her newest see-through dress for the Thunderbolts* campaign. It may come as little surprise to you that we were correct on both counts. See, We were looking forward to this moment because despite this being her second Marvel film, this is her first time hitting the red carpet as a Marvel star. Sorry if this triggers you, but when she was promoting Black Widow in 2021, we were all still on lockdown and she had to do it like this:
Perched on a stool in her stylist’s hotel bathroom. MAN, that was a sucky time. But that’s in the past and now we’re in the bold, bright, sunny future of 2025 (HEAVY SARCASM), which means she gets to spend those Disney dollars the way Jesus intended:
We always say the same thing about sheer gowns and black gowns: as long as it’s interesting to look at, it works fine for the red carpet. The problem with sheer gowns and black gowns is that most of them are generic and instantly forgettable. We’re not sure if this is a particularly memorable gown in the long term, but we do think it’s interesting enough for pictures. It’s attempting more as a design than merely exposing the panties or the nips. There’s a sense of grandeur to the design and the various embellishment and textural elements give it a sense of depth. It looks great on her. We’re not as convinced that the head styling was the right way to go. She can work a wet look and a mod eye with the best of them, but we don’t think the style works for the dress.
