We’ve been opinionating on Oscars fashion for nearly 24 hours now, so we’re going to eat hoagies and Italian cookies while you guys weigh in on that topic you all love to talk about: the latter dudebro style of Mr. Timothee Chalamet, star of Wonka, that space worm movie, and of course, a Best Actor nominee for A Complete Unknown.
The hoagies beckon, so real quick: You can read our Timothee-ology post for our thoughts on his latest style evolution, but the upshot is that we think he’s doing interesting things with male red carpet style for prestige stars and we think he represents a generational shift in how stars approach the red carpet. We think it’s a shame that the more risk-taking male nominees such as him and Colman Domingo don’t seem to get the same consideration, but we also think it’s only a matter of time before either of them snag that much-wanted Oscar. Anyway, we like this. It’s a softly different take on formalwear without being too challenging, which is how he’s been threading that needle lately. Our only real issue is with the pants, which need about two inches off the hem. But of course, that final call is up to y’all.
