Just a couple of witches, hanging out. Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande went home from the Golden Globes trophyless, but at least they get to wear interesting dresses that don’t look like cosplay.
She admitted in her red carpet interview that she’s getting away from the Elphaba greens while still trying to keep things a little on the witchy side. Personally, it takes more than a black textile to pull of a witchy design and we don’t think this one is managing it. Not that we mind. It’s a pretty fabric but we don’t love the design at all. The architectural skirt and casual bodice don’t marry well and the proportions are kind of weird.
She’s in her Audrey mode for sure. The style suits her, but the color is terrible on her. Compare this take on retro style with Zendaya’s. This one feels like a museum piece while Zendaya’s feels alive and of the moment. Personally, we don’t think she’s all that well suited to vintage styles.
