Once again, we find ourselves frustrated by The Last Showgirl star Pamela Anderson’s awards season promo style. As we’ve noted pretty much every time we feature her, we’re fully supportive of her commitment to making her way through awards season in a makeup-free or clean face state, but she tends to make terrible style decisions in support of that choice. At the Gotham Awards, she sported the kind of custom Oscar de la Renta gown that screams of simple, old school glamour.

But the effect makes it seem like she wandered out of a fitting session onto a red carpet. We’ll restate it again: no person “has” to wear makeup, even in a formal or picture-taking setting. But when you’re a woman in a formal setting and you’ve opted to go without cosmetics, you’re much, much better off picking a style that actually lends itself to that sort of clean look. This dress demands two things of its wearer: diamonds and a beat for the gods. If she doesn’t want to go that route, she should pick different styles for herself. Beachy and boho work very well for her. In related news, while we can support anyone’s decision not to wear makeup, that mess of hair is not good at all. Again, if you don’t want to go to the trouble of a coiffure, just keep it sleek and shiny or pull it back. She looks like she woke up ten minutes ago.
