As we’ve noted before, Anora star Mikey Madison is getting career-making buzz for her performance. We’ll leave the Oscar prognosticating to the people who are paid to do it, but we’ll reiterate that watching a star in that moment when they move from relative unknown to toast of the industry (and for most of them, it really is just a moment) is one of the most thrilling parts of our jobs. What can we say? After all this time, we’re still into this stuff. Anyway, here’s the girl of the hour clearly moving herself into the Prestige Actress column at the LACMA Gala.
That flash of shoe is kind of hilarious. We don’t know if we’d have recommended those clodhoppers to give her some height, but there’s something fun and cheeky about including them. The dress is elegant and looks great on her. She has the coloring to make a relatively plain white gown sing. The trim around the neckline adds some interest, although we’d rather have seen that accomplished with some showy jewelry. We love that little cutout and the under-bust seam, but it’s puckering ever so slightly, which is shame.
