Just a weensy little rundown of all the stars (that you recognize) at the MTV Europe Music Awards. We gave Miss Jodie her own moment, but let’s round up the stragglers and give them a piece of our collective mind, yes?
Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Gabriela Hearst
It’s… just okay. The color looks great on him, but the cut doesn’t really flatter him and while the monochromatic suit look is trendy, we think this would be improved with a contrasting color.
Rita Ora (in Ashi Studio Couture) and Taika Waititi
We’re not sure how this dress managed the trick of looking like an explosion in a wheat field and also utterly generic at the same time. The color is dreary and the styling does nothing to elevate it – although to be fair, a gown like this doesn’t call for a lot of fuss in the styling. He looks presentable.
Shawn Mendes
Suddenly hairy! Enh. We don’t know. Maybe it’s because of his reticence regarding his sexuality, but this feels somehow forced and timid at the same time. We once said (rather bitchily) that all of his red carpet outfits look like he bought them at Banana Republic and we kinda think that still applies, even with the cropped jacket and tricky collar.
Tyla in Roberto Cavalli
This is fun and she looks great, but we’re hating this trend of feather-trimmed skirts.
