Avatar: Fire and Ash star Zoe Saldana came to D23 to promote the upcoming sequel, sport bras in new and unusual ways, and to pick up her Disney Legend award. Given her starring roles in the Avatar franchise and the MCU, the staggering amount of box office behind this woman makes her one of the more deserving of that corporate award. To mark both occasions, she sported two looks that practically demand us to classify them as “awkwardly low key.”
And by that we mean it takes a second or two for you to realize how goofy some of these outfits are. Sporting a bra with a halter – a sheer halter at that – is insane. There’s just no way to make that combination work. Fortunately for her, the top is giving her the illusion of belly rolls which tends to distract from the weird strap/neckline situation. And before anyone gets worked up, belly rolls are fine and fabulous things to have, but most people would opt not to wear something that makes you look like you have them when you don’t. She honestly would have been better off ditching the top at the last second and just walking out there in her bra, but the Disney overlords probably wouldn’t like it. And speaking of weird bra issues…
It appears to be something of a theme with her choices. The entire look would be vastly improved if she simply ditched the bra completely, although we assume it’s part of the design.
