BREAKING NEWS: Blake Lively has taken red carpet theme-dressing to new and utterly horrifying levels! Let’s go to the tape:
Oh, right. We should probably mention that Ryan Reynolds was there too and by “there,” we mean the New York premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine. There. You happy, Google? Now let’s get into this.
RYAN REYNOLDS
This is fine – in every sense of the word. While we tend to get huffy about celebrity guys wearing black suits at events that aren’t formal, no one could confuse him with one of the security professionals on site. This is clearly of high quality and has some interesting details, like the lapel design, the brooch and the shoes. The grooming and fit are flawless. We can’t get mad at it. We can, however, get mad at this tackysplosion:

We have no idea if she’s the person rumored to play Lady Deadpool in the film (we suppose the spoiler will be out not long after we post this), but she sure wanted to keep the speculation going right up to the last minute. One of the things we feared when theme-dressing became ubiquitous on premiere red carpets was that someone would attempt to make a high-fashion version of a superhero costume work. Guess what? It doesn’t! All of that shiny and puckering looks terrible and the design simply isn’t flattering. She looks ready to pop a couple of stitches if she so much as sneezes. The accessorizing is random and entirely too aggressive. This is awful. Please don’t do this, stars. Instead of attempting cosplay, you could instead step out in front of cameras wearing something nice that looks good on you! Think about it!
