We’re tossing this one out to y’all to make the final call for two reasons. First, we’ve been opinionating on Oscars red carpetry for nearly 24 hour straight (you’ll pardon the term) hours. Second, because we’ve been ragging on Maestro star and Best Actress nominee Carey Mulligan’s stripped-bare retro style all season and she served up more of the same for the big night.
This is a recreation of a classic Balenciaga design from 1951. It’s a beautiful gown, although it falls under the same sort of retro style she’s favored a bit too much for our tastes. We won’t debate the pros and the cons of the look. That’s for you to do. Let’s hear it.
