The Golden Globes are in the rearview mirror and the Emmys are walking up to our front door (to mix our metaphors), so it’s time to wrap things up regarding the celebrity style attempts at this year’s Governors Awards. If you’ve missed any of our coverage, by all means, click here to get caught up.
America Ferrera in Moschino

Sharp and well done. She looks great.
Andrew Scott in Givenchy

Acceptable, but too low-key for someone on the awards track.
Angela Bassett in Dolce & Gabbana

We’d have liked this a lot more without the mermaid ruffle and the contrasting belt, but she looks great.
Ayo Edebiri in Proenza Schouler

She’s clearly got her preferences, given how consistent her style choices tend to be, but we can’t say her love of pairing bedsheets with casual hair and virtually no jewelry is serving her all that well. This looks terrible.
Colman Domingo in Grayscale

Sir, you had us completely until we got to the footwear.
Danielle Brooks in Naeem Khan

We continue to be a little surprised that everyone involved with The Color Purple seemingly settled on shades of lilac and lavender to promote it. We’d have thought we’d be seeing more in the way of aubergine. Anyway, she looks gorgeous here.
Fantasia Barrino in Ronny Kobo

This is fabulous diva work and the dual awards season trends of B&W and peplums continue to remain strong.
Franz Rogowski in Zegna
Pin
Pin
On point, but we expected more.
Greta Lee in Bottega Veneta

The “collar,” for lack of a better term, is interesting and we like the color and the drape of the skirt. The shoes are a needle scratch of a choice.
Jeffrey Wright
Pin
Pin
Never gets it wrong, always impeccable and above reproach. A master.
Natalie Portman in Schiaparelli
Pin
Pin
We don’t love the keyhole and hate the bust construction, but she looks fantastic in black and gold.
Olivia Rodrigo in Vintage Saint Laurent
Pin
Pin
Pretty and elegant but perhaps a little too understated and conservative.
Penélope Cruz in Chanel
Pin
Pin
The lady chooses yet another bad Chanel. We didn’t hate it on sight, but we don’t love the color story and those buttons look stupid on that bodice.
Taraji P. Henson in Valdrin Sahiti
Pin
Pin
The floral element looks too heavy and overdone.
Zac Efron in Fendi
Pin
Pin
The suit looks impeccable and we can even accept the turtleneck because it looks good on him, but he should button up for pictures.
