Before they were snubbed by the SAG Awards nominations, May December stars Julianne Moore and Charles Melton were all smiles in their best awards campaigning finery.
Well. Semi-best, maybe.
Julianne Moore in Valentino
We’re torn. On the one hand, we’re thrilled to see her wearing more glamorous looks instead of falling back on her own “New York Fashonista” preferences, which can often be a little too edgy and quirky for red carpets, if not downright awkward on her. On the other hand, this looks outrageously, unworkably heavy and the sleeve situation is kind of annoying to look at. Evidently, “Lady of the Lake” looks are a minor trend this season.
Charles Melton in Giorgio Armani
Well, we’re happy to see him realize he needs to button his jacket for pictures. Unfortunately, he still looks kind of sloppy. We’d never suggest that his choice of awards season attire isn’t helping him, but it sure wouldn’t hurt to straighten things up a little and possibly course correct slightly as the Academy starts the nominating process. Colorful suits, well-tailored and pressed, with a tie. It’s not the most interesting and exciting fashion in the world, but the Academy can be awfully conservative about such things.
