Miss Annie, we love ourselves a vintage couture red carpet moment and we think the Fashion Awards red carpet is one of the best places for it. Why’d it have to be this vintage couture, though?
We wouldn’t dream of denying the skill and artistry it took to produce this gown, but we’ve tried and tried to like it, failing each time. For one, the non-color does little for her. We think those coils or tubes are interesting, but when they end in thick, beaded fringe, well… this is where we get off the fashion bus. That neckline’s hard to pull off but it looks great on her. Looking less great are the sleeves. Cap sleeves would be a huge improvement. It’s clear that this is a unique and interesting dress. We just don’t think it looks all that great on her. Are we wrong?
