They’re too cute together to separate them in our coverage and we don’t like to do an IN or OUT for a dress in a couples situation because it feels like we’re just ignoring him so we can judge her, but we have to say, that left us with something of a dilemma. Because while Killers of the Flower Moon star Jesse Plemons looked perfectly fine in his standard tux and new Redfordian mop of hair at the Baby2Baby Gala, his wife Kirsten Dunst wore a look that invites discussion and debate.
The thing about this dress is that we want to like it, but we keep noting things about it that don’t appeal to us. The color story is interesting and unusual, but it’s also harsh in some parts, dull in others. That backing greige color does nothing for her. We tend not to love black-backed florals, but this one has such a richness and intensity of color that might have been an improvement with some edge to it. The other thing we can’t quite get over are the somewhat obtrusive and obvious seams. The deliberate mismatching of the print bugs a bit. Having said all that, there’s something appealing about how the dress straddles that line of being conventionally pretty and just a little off, which is exactly the kind of style that suits her best.
