The GQ Men of the Year Awards were held in London last night and a whole slew of stars came out, some in their best, some in their worst, some in their most tryhard looks. Let’s see how things shook out!
Andrew Scott in Valentino
NO. Sorry to be so vehement, but we just caught his amazing, heavily buzzed performance in All of Us Strangers (review to come) and this whole look is simply not up to Oscar campaign standards. Those shoes are horrible, the cut of the suit is unflattering and the colors do nothing for him.
Asa Butterfield
Looks a little too much like a senior lady’s pantsuit.
Daisy Edgar-Jones in Gucci
The proportions are weird, but we’re not mad at any of it. There’s something very straightforward about it.
Jeremy Allen White in Hermès
He’s too hot to be hitting red carpets looking so unhot.
Jodie Turner-Smith in KNWLS
We’ll always love how hard she goes for the red carpet, and we think she looks as fierce as ever here, but that dress is ugly.
Joe Alwyn
It’s gotta suck be Tay’s ex right now, as the whole world cheers on her latest. Anyway, he looks dull, but fine. We tend to think French cuffs and a heeled boot don’t go all that well with a leather car coat, but that’s just us.
Maisie Williams in Maison Margiela
The dress is insane but we’ve come to expect that from her. Honestly, the only thing that really bugs here is the sparkly slipper. She’d have been better off going punk with the footwear, rather than princess. And speaking of princesses…
Meg Bellamy in Versace
She’s playing Kate Middleton in this season of The Crown and we’re going to go with the assumption that this is some sort of tribute to Kate’s early aughts fashion disasters. We’re not offended by jeans, but she looks way too casual compared to most other attendees.
Ncuti Gatwa in Louis Gabriel Nouchi
Pure fucking fabulous.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen
There is simply no reason for hot men to look this bad in expensive clothing. Terrible color, unflattering cut, ridiculous clown shoes.
Russell Tovey
Can’t get mad at a man for bringing old school formal to the red carpet. He looks great.
Sheila Atim in Versace
She’s stunning and the dress is great, but we’d have liked a longer hem and at least one killer piece of jewelry.
Sophia Di Martino in A.W.A.K.E. Mode (Dress) and Mugler (Jacket)
By all rights, we should be rolling our eyes at the very least, but that skirt is honestly kind of fun. Too tricky for its own good, but fun. It was smart to keep everything else fairly low key.
Theo James
It’s giving George Michael. We’re okay with that. Love the shoes.
